If you don't want people gossiping...don't do anything worth gossiping about!

There's a married woman at work who has been sleeping with a man at work since before she got married. Everyone knows about it, her husband knows about it, and the man at work got drunk and told everyone about it on a night out.
At my work people like to gossip, people have gossiped about me and not even got their facts right but I take it in my stride because it's part of life really, everyone- whether they admit it or not- loves to talk about other people's lives. I don't mean in a nasty way, just general talk to pass the boredom of the day
This married woman apparently doesn't like to be talked about, and has in the past even gone as far as to report anyone who mentions her and this man  to management so they get a disciplinary.
What I want to know is how can someone get a disciplinary for merely mentioning that she is seeing this man, who admitted it? It's not slander as it's true, it wasn't said maliciously and no harm came to anyone and everyone knows about the situation anyway.
This married woman talks about other people, and even spreads rumours sometimes so how can she get mad when people talk about her?

My point is of you don't want to be gossiped about don't have an affair with someone at work, especially one who will tell everyone about it.
